December is such a fun month for our family because it is full of different traditions. We celebrate
Sinterklaas day because my dad served his
LDS Mission in Holland. We've been celebrating it for as long as I can remember. We each have our own pair of wooden shoes that we leave out the night before and
Sinterklaas fills them with Dutch goodies. Our family favorite are the
Stroopwafels. If you ever get a chance to taste one, take it! They're fantastic! I was so excited when I went to Holland with my Grandparents when I was in 8
th grade and they actually made these. I was already so cultured! I dragged Anders out of bed at the wee hour of 8:30 this morning (hense the crazy hair Anders is sporting) to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see what
Sinterklaas brought us. Ryder spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house, so he even came downstairs to a surprise. It confused Ryder a little because he kept saying, "Where's my Hungry Hungry Hippos?" I had to explain multiple times that
Sinterklaas brings us treats and Santa Claus brings us toys. I'm sure he just thinks I'm the one that's confused!

I remember Sinterklaas Day from down at Snow! You shared all your goodies, I think I have pics with your wooden shoes on...looks like your little family has had a lot of fun the past couple weeks. I love this time of year!
Yeah! I know exactly what picture you're talking about! You're galloping down the hallway in your PJs...good times!
What a fun tradition... I love the fact that your mom goes all out. I thought the gifs were to fit in the shoes and she has all kinds of things sitting around them. Gotta love it! I even remember that for Valentines day you get gifts! P.S I love Anders hair too!
so are you guys going to Lucia this Saturday night the 13th? We will be there...Dan-less but still there, with the entire Arrhenius clan! I am going crazy with how big anders is! He is so handsome...the last time we got our kids together it was seriously when Elisabeth and Anders were just a few months old. Wow, time flies! Well we sure miss you guys a ton!
